Reward for Procrastination

I've begun to learn certain things about myself. Like, the more deadlines I have coming up, the less work I get done. For instance, though I have known that I need to send two themed pieces to Toronto in the middle of May for months, I have only now begun to get my butt in gear to accomplish the said pieces (one of which is in progress at the left). I also have known for a long time that the AAEA deadline is coming up on May 14th and have I gotten the slides yet? Oh, no. Oh, gawwwd, no. Nowhere near. I haven't even picked out the three pieces I want to submit.

Because Procrastination has always been good for me and because I know my readers are both funny and lazy like me, I'm running a mini-contest that will end Sunday May 12th at noon. Whoever sends me the funniest essay vaguely related to Laziness, Procrastination, or Deadlines gets a print (I get to choose, no whining over what I choose either) and their essay published on this blog with a big label of "THE WINNER." 500 words tops and I mean funny, people. Bring it on! Email it to me at portraitswithcharacter @ gmail.com.

My qualifications? I do not have enough fingers to count the number of people I have forced to spray drinks out of their nose. If that's not a good enough qualification for you, well, too bad.

Requirements? I would like to spray a drink out of my nose as well. Any essay that gets close to that, well, you're in the running.

Well, if I can be bothered to get my own butt out of neutral and into drive,I'll see if I have time...(I may be laugghing too much!)

Do we get extra points for turning it in late?

Hmm, I've got three deadlines for the end of the month, all of which I am resolutely ignoring. So I'll give this a go. :)

Well, looks like I procrastinated writing this comment so long that I'm one post late.

An essay on procrastination: what a fun idea!
I'm definitely putting this on my list of things I fully intend to do as soon as my schedule opens up a little.

Beautiful work. I'm an equine artist, too, but my sales are mostly comprised of private commissions.

Procrastination... well, I really, really should explore limited edition options for my paintings but I've been putting it off for a couple of years.

My writing? I've been a good, good girl, meeting my one deadline.

This is excellent. You said Sunday, May 12th. The next time May 12th is on Sunday is in 2013, so I have plenty of time to compose my gut busting essay!

Exactly. This Sunday is ACTUALLY the 13th. So, hostess, is the deadline Sunday the 13th or SATURDAY the 12th?
