More Cover Babbling

I confess, me and my camera (his name is Malachi) have way too much fun. Sometimes a sketch is not cool enough and I need to call in Malachi.

Can you picture a title which I haven't thought of yet plastered on the bottom? Gawd, I'm so happy they have a team of marketing geniuses thinking up a title for me so I can just finish the revisions and eat cookie dough in peace. Because the ones I have thought of so far are . . . wow. Bad.

Yep. I like this cover idea! Could the key be laying in the clover at her feet? Just a thought. Those puppies are too cute!

I like this for a paperback cover, and the sketch with the key around the girl's neck for a hardcover. And agree with a lot of people that having a clover part of the design of the key would really tie the cover to the story.

Completely unrelated and sort of random: the Rottie across the street is named Malachi.

I DO like that as a cover idea! I am still drawn to the key hanging from the woman's neck though...I would definitely pick that one off the shelf to learn more.

I so can see a title there! Of course I can see the shoes as Mary Janes - must be my age!

Thanks, guys. Unfortunately I get one shot at this because it comes out as a paperback only (most young adult novels do).

Jennifer, a Rottie named Malachi? That's kinda funny!

Nicole - I really wanted them to be sky blue sneakers, actually. You know like those canvas ones with white laces? That would be a much better color combo.
